Pedicide
They’re killing children
Again—
Those weak rich men
Aroused by violence—
Hide their darkest secrets
Under ashes and dust.
School girls seeking
Knowledge,
Living for the future—
The screaming bombs
Silenced their voices—
Forever.
Bloodied books and backpacks,
Pencils broken on the floor—
No longer to write,
To create—
No more songs,
No more dreams.
Children—
Stuck in the middle
Of adult liars,
Broken empires,
And one-sided peace promises
As empty as craters.
When will it end?
We’re at war again. Another war at the hands of the false king of the United States. Another war where the victims are civilians — children. When I saw that an elementary school had been bombed, I couldn’t speak or think. But at the same time, was I surprised?
Soon after, I needed to write about it. I had to say something the best way I know how. A few lines started to come together, but I struggled with the words. It is such a difficult thing to write about and process.
But this isn’t about me. It is about these poor children who’ve become casualty numbers growing in another war.
I hope this makes you sad. I hope it makes you uncomfortable. I hope it makes you think on how we can stop this from happening again.
Thanks for reading.
