An early winter scene with trees and ground covered in snow.

November Update

It has been a while! What started as a brief break to focus on settling into the house and all the other adulting stuff, turned into a much longer hiatus. Within that time, I also took a break from social media. Essentially, I broke off contact with everyone but family and friends.

I had hoped that this break would spark some writing or art creation. But it didn’t, which I’m a bit sad about. However, instead of beating myself up over it, I realized perhaps I needed that break from everything. To simply exist in life and use my brain space for the here and now. It was nice not having to think about creating posts and making content.

To be honest, I was in a depression. My usual cycle of waxing and waning. Perhaps it is fitting that I’m writing this on the cusp of a new moon. I’m coming out of inner reflection and ready to start anew — ready to glow bright and full. A stark contrast to the physical darkness deepening as we draw closer to the Winter Solstice here in the Northern Hemisphere.

Speaking of winter, we’ve had some snow already where we are in Michigan! It was exciting, and I fed off the kids’ excitement. What’s great is that it inspired a new poem! Once I feel it is ready, I’ll share it.

And here’s something wild: next month, my debut poetry book will be turning one! I don’t have anything planned other than taking the time to realize I have a book out in the world and people have read it.

In other news, we now have two cats! They came to us as little kittens and now they are already small cats. Or kitten cats as I like to call them! They are awesome and everyone is having so much fun with them. There are some photos of the boys below including one with our dogs. Most of the photos are of them sleeping because they’re usually zooming around the house!

I hope everyone is well.

As always, thanks for reading!

    August Update

Summer draws to a close and I don’t mind. We’re upon my favorite season! Fall has always been so magical to me, and I can’t wait to dive into all things autumnal. However, I want to still honor this summer of change and growth. While my writing and art have been mostly stagnant, I did manage to write a few poems. Also, I grabbed a lovely shot of clouds the other day which is the featured image of this post.

    Moving & WIP Update

I don’t have a poem or prose prepared for this week because I am focused on our upcoming move from Arizona to Michigan. The days have been spent sorting and packing and sorting and packing and — yeah. Moving to a new location is one of those things that I love and hate at the same time. On the one hand, it is exciting to leave a place I’ve never really connected with and go back to a place I love. On the other hand, it is so much work! Not to mention, leaving some family members and friends is also very hard.

  • July Updates

It has been quite a month! My family and I have finally found a home. This month has been devoted to moving in and getting settled. While we are mostly settled and I can start to breathe, we still have many boxes of things to find places for. We’re getting there, but we’re also taking our time. This is the first place we haven’t rented and feel like we can slow down.
