July Updates

It has been quite a month! My family and I have finally found a home. This month has been devoted to moving in and getting settled. While we are mostly settled and I can start to breathe, we still have many boxes of things to find places for. We’re getting there, but we’re also taking our time. This is the first place we haven’t rented and feel like we can slow down.

Writing has come to a standstill, art is not being made, and I’ve been feeling a bit lost. I have to remind myself that I have been doing a lot. Someone on Threads said — I’m paraphrasing — that even though I’m not doing the creative type stuff in terms of art or writing, I am creating a home. And yeah, I certainly have put on my interior designer hat, as well as my landscape designer hat. There are so many projects I can’t wait to get into!

That said, I am feeling my muse stirring. My twilight mind is beginning to focus on some of my writing WIPs. I’m also planning some art projects. With all the packing materials, I have this really nice large piece of cardboard that I would love to paint on! I’m not yet sure what that is going to be, but it is making me excited.

That’s all for now! Hopefully next month’s update will have some writing and/or art in it.

    August Update

Summer draws to a close and I don’t mind. We’re upon my favorite season! Fall has always been so magical to me, and I can’t wait to dive into all things autumnal. However, I want to still honor this summer of change and growth. While my writing and art have been mostly stagnant, I did manage to write a few poems. Also, I grabbed a lovely shot of clouds the other day which is the featured image of this post.

  • November Update

It has been a while! What started as a brief break to focus on settling into the house and all the other adulting stuff, turned into a much longer hiatus. Within that time, I also took a break from social media. Essentially, I broke off contact with everyone but family and friends.

    Moving & WIP Update

I don’t have a poem or prose prepared for this week because I am focused on our upcoming move from Arizona to Michigan. The days have been spent sorting and packing and sorting and packing and — yeah. Moving to a new location is one of those things that I love and hate at the same time. On the one hand, it is exciting to leave a place I’ve never really connected with and go back to a place I love. On the other hand, it is so much work! Not to mention, leaving some family members and friends is also very hard.
